Restoration of accounting records

If gaps, unclosed periods or discrepancies with tax returns have accumulated in your books, we first diagnose the real situation, then restore the records for previous periods and move on to current bookkeeping.

When restoration of accounting records is needed

  • The previous accountant kept the books with errors or stopped performing their duties.
  • The books were kept late, and unposted documents have accumulated over several periods.
  • There are discrepancies between the accounting records, bank statements and the returns filed.
  • You plan to sell the business, bring in an investor or face an inspection — and need confidence in the state of the books in advance.

Diagnostics (review) of the state of accounting

Before restoring the records we carry out diagnostics: we reconcile the accounting data with bank statements, primary documents and the returns filed, and identify gaps, discrepancies and potential tax risks. Based on the results we give a clear list of what needs to be restored and for which period, and an indicative scope of work.

The same diagnostics is suitable if you only need a review of the state of your books — for example, before selling a business, changing accountants or bringing in an investor — without any subsequent restoration.

Sequence of work

  1. Diagnostics of the current state of the accounting and a list of the gaps found.
  2. Agreeing the scope and cost of restoration for the periods identified.
  3. Restoration of the records: posting of outstanding documents, reconciliation with returns and, where necessary, filing of amended reports.
  4. Transition to current bookkeeping, or handover of the restored records to another provider.

Cost

It depends on the period, the volume of transactions, the state of the primary documents and the risks identified — and is determined only after diagnostics, since without it the scope of work is unknown.

Frequently asked questions

How long does restoration of accounting take?

It depends on the period and the extent of the gaps — we give an indicative timeline based on the results of the diagnostics.

Can you simply review the state of the accounting, without restoring it?

Yes, diagnostics is a standalone service: it is suitable if you only need a review before an important decision.

What if penalty risks are found during restoration?

We tell you about it directly and together decide on the course of action — including the possibility of filing amended reports.
