LLC registration for foreign founders in Ukraine
A foreign citizen or a foreign company may be a founder of an LLC in Ukraine. The process is similar to registration with a Ukrainian founder, but adds the non-resident’s documents, their legalisation and, where necessary, translation.
What a foreign founder needs in addition
- An identity document (for an individual) or the company’s registration documents (for a legal-entity founder).
- Legalisation of the non-resident’s documents — an apostille or consular legalisation, depending on the country where the document was issued.
- A notarised translation of the documents into Ukrainian.
- If necessary, a power of attorney for a representative in Ukraine, where the founder does not sign the documents in person.

Does a foreign founder have to come to Ukraine in person?
Not necessarily — it is possible to act through a representative under a notarised power of attorney.
Is a residence permit needed just to be a founder?
No — a residence permit is needed only if the foreigner personally works or stays in Ukraine on a long-term basis, not for the status of an LLC founder as such.
How long does the legalisation of a non-resident’s documents take?
